As a club, we decided to climb Mount Snowdon to fundraise for local charities at our 2016 AGM. The two local charities chosen by members were East Anglian Air Ambulance and East Anglia's Children's Hospices. At the time our target was £1,000 per charity and we never imagined we would get anywhere near £5,000!
It was a year in the planning, trying to fit in a date around the fixtures, when there was a reasonable chance of some decent weather! 20 members completed the climb on Saturday 3rd June 2017 and we received many generous donations.
Along with the raffle money from our Legends Night with Steve Clarke, at the start of July, the auction of a signed shirt on the night the funds were boosted to just under £5,000!
Our final event saw a Hog Roast hosted by members Grahame, Karla & Tom Bolton, which pushed us over the £5,000 mark, along with a £100 donation from the Cornish Blues Official Chelsea Supporters Club, our final total reached £5,359.27!
Finally, thank you once again to everyone who sponsored/donated towards these two fantastic charities, along with the local companies who supported us with raffle prizes.
Later this summer, the club members who undertook the challenge will be presenting a cheque to both charities. Photos will be posted once this has taken place!
